Congratulations to Rikki Hacker who broke the course record with a time of 16:03 and took home an extra $100.00! Next year the womens jackpot will increase to $200.00 and the mens will remain at $100.00. Thank you to all of our 2009 participants.
The 16th annual Truman Run 5K will again be a benefit for Nativity of Mary School, Knights of Columbus Charities and Sunshine Center, all located in Independence, Missouri. The Knights of Columbus and Cockerell & McIntosh Pediatrics have teamed up to make this year's race better than ever. There will be medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age group, music by Music Masters and plenty of food and drink from Nature's Pantry to help make this year's event a truly special Kansas City race!
The 2009 Truman Run 5K will be held on May 9, 2009 and will begin promptly at 8:00am. The race starts and finishes at Sunshine Center, an early childhood center for children with disabilities, 607 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050. You may park one block west of the start/finish line at the Community of Christ Temple parking lot. Get there early to avoid road closures around the course.
In years past the race was put on by and was a benefit for Sunshine Center, however, Sunshine Center has started a new 5K called the Run to the Sun which takes place in July and is located in Space Center's undergound facility at 1500 W.
